Need To Breathe #1

The title Need To Breathe comes from a thought that sometime a small mouthed vessel needs more holes to allow the piece to breathe. Maybe it imparts a certain lightness as opposed to a completely closed shape. I think it works, what do you think?

Turned from Mulberry (I am told) it is about 150 mm (6″) dia. The contrast between the heart and the sap wood really adds to the piece.

Styled on the daisy shape and carved onto a natural edge vessel. Some colour added and this is the result. It has been quite a journey but the results are worth it.

I received a big surprise last week. I received a phone call from a fellow woodturner who had seen a mention of this website in the March edition of the British magazine ‘Woodturning’. I was blown away! Today at our local meeting he showed it to me.

Wow, there it was. Thank you ‘Woodturning’ !
